Explain how the Letters frame the upcoming story of Frankenstein.
well, i got confused with the letters, sknow for sure how the letters frame the uppcoming story of frankenstein. But i was thinking that the first letter was just the brother saying that he is going out for a journey an he will see the her when his journey is complete.
ReplyDeletethe second letter was how he wanted a friend who was just as smart as he was, and was couragous and adverturious. the third letter was how they were stuck in the ice they say a man shaped figure, but more bigger(i was thinking that was frankenstein) and than the next day they rescued this stranger who was very intreaging to him. the forth letter was most confusing for me, (it might be because i havent read that much in quite a long time) but i think it was about the stranger that the brother saved, and how he was that friend he wanted...
(p.s. please tell me if i did it wrong, so i can do it again...)
Congratulations Ben! You blogged! And as far as your comment to the prompt, well, it's pretty right on target. I'm glad to have to reading again :) Please don't forget to comment to at least one of your classmates blog. For now: +155 (+100 for creating your profile and +55 for your blog post).
ReplyDeleteIn letter one he writes to his sister to let her know that he is going on a voyage and probably won't be back for long and if he fails he'll probably be back right away or not at all. In letter two he's on the voyage, but wants a friend to accompany him on his voyage. He doesn't mean his shipmates, but more of someone like him someone adventurous. In letter three Robert writes his sister again letting her know that he is safe and that they have struck ice. In letter four Robert sees a great stature like a man but gigantic on a dogsled that was going north. they tried to follow, but it was impossible with all the ice surrounding them. The next day they picked up a stranger who was in no good condition. Robert takes him into his own cabin and is facinated by him. Walters affection toward the stranger is growing the more he listens. The stranger says he's gonna tell a story that Robert might or might not beleive.
ReplyDelete*HOPE i got it!
@VICENTE: You did a good job like what Mrs. Q said in class today. Although i didn't really understand why in your letter three it was about frankenstein when it only says it in letter 4. I don't know maybe i missed something in letter 3. In the beginning of my thing it's kinda like yours, but my letter 3 is different and i think my letter 4 is a bit long. Well you did a good job and you helped me out just by reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThe book starts off with him writing letters to his sister. In letter one he tells his sister that he is going to go on a voyage. Letter two he talks about how he has no friends that he's alone and want a friend just like him where they can relate to each other. In Letter three he writes to the sister telling her that he's safe and in good spirit. Also that his men are bold and firm. At the end he tells his sister that his heart is swelling. In letter four he tells her that an accident has happened that they hit an ice. He also talks about seeing a low carriage on a sledge and a shape of a gigantic structure in the sledge guided by dogs. The next morning they find a man who tells him about the gigantic figure he saw !
ReplyDelete@tokalov3 : hmm you were on track and i see you used vicentes to help you out you were almost exact on everything but on letter three you wrote they hit an ice but they did not mention that until the beginning of letter 4. i also thought they hit the ice but i went back to the ebook and read it one more time to verify and its on letter 4. over all you did a great job (:
ReplyDelete@TOKALOVE Yeah, your blog thing is practicly perfect, you tell how everything accures in every letter perfectly... that was a great summerization of the four letters, and as far as i know... you got it, congradulation...
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, letters 1-4 are about a man named Robert Walton who is writing to his lovely sister named Margaret about his up coming journey. He explains in letter 1 about his life how he has his ups and downs for example when he was a poet for about a year i think ,he lived in paradise in his own creations of poems. He imagined he could be one of the greats like homer and Shakespeare but he had failed. So lets move on okay, ohh yah, he was also on this journey to discover what attracts the needle of a compass to point north. He is very curious and excited that he is on his way to this long expedition of his own discovery. As of right now you can tell he is very motivated and dedicated to set out. yet he is depress to think about this long journey. He also told his sister at the end of letter one that if he succeeds she wont be seeing him in a long while and if he fails she'll probably see him soon or not at all.:( Now lets go on to letter TWO I KNOw LONG..... i wasn't so interested in letter two but i just had to read it to understand Robert more meaning his character. so yes in letter two he was lonely and wanted to have a companion like himself.Smart, adventurous, and just say someone like him.I wont stay to long on this letter wasn't to interesting to me. let go to letter three, this letter was short and its just explaining out to his sister notifying that he's safe and what happen to the vessel when they got stuck in sheets of ice.Now last and l finally letter four, letter four is about Robert seeing a freakishly large man on a dogsled, umm thats all i can remember from that im brain dead right now so umm lets say the guy they found... well ill get back on letter four... ill add more later okay sorry people.
ReplyDeletehope im not confusing and wrong...
@vincente and tokalove awesome job on your short summary one letters 1-4.. i understood when i read you guys own.. mine i feel like ummm idk
ReplyDeletethe first letter out of the four that we read is basically just the brother (robert walter)telling his sister that he is going to go on a jouney and if things dont go the way he plans (he fails) she will eighther see him soon, or never again... the second letter is about how he longs for a freind who is knowledgeable and kind, he tells about this guy he persuaded to tag along for the journey. The man is kind and careing, but he also has the respect of all those who are under him(his subordinates), but he is not so bright, sort of dull minded... the third letter is just robert telling the sister that he is ok and they met ice by now... the fourth letter they see a gigantic man shaped figure beig pulled in a slay by dogs, a few hours later the ice breaks and robert finds his crew on one side on the ship seeming to be talking to someone, the stranger asks where they are headed and when told that they are headed to the north the stranger comes aboard... the stranger gets better, and as he starts to get better, he starts to talk more... the stranger(victor) is just like robert in a way and is the type of freind robert always wanted... they are quite alike and robert enjoys his company, than victor tell robert that he will tell him his story... some, think that he wants to tell robert the story because he feels guilty, but i feel like he wants to tell the story, because robert is just like him... and he doesn't want robert to make the mistake he made... thats just what i think, i dont know...
ReplyDelete@margie garrido your blog comment was percise, and you did great... i understood the story when you summarized and you broke it down so smoothely... you evan have the names right, haha mine was wrong... i put walter, but it was walton... i honestly didn't remember margrete's name so i didn't mention it, but you mentioned every detail... congradulations and take care...
ReplyDeleteVicente (Ben), Jaeana, Margie and Jason: Great job on your blogging! I liked how you each summarized the letters! While you didn't answer the blog prompt, you each gave great insight on the letters. I'll accept that for now but will expect an oral discussion on the topic :)

ReplyDeleteThe first letter in the novel was the least of my interest, to me it was pretty boring. The first letter was just about Robert Walter telling his sister that he is going to set out on a journey over seas and that he is unsure of when he will see his her again.
ReplyDeleteIn the second letter Robert lets his sister know that he has set off on his journey in the sea and that he is longing for companionship. He tells his sister about his one of his Lieutenants' who was a good man who was in love with his wife even thought she cheated on him. Robert wanted to know how it felt to be in love like his Lieutenant was.
Letter three was about the ship being in ice. Although the ship is in ice Robert and his crew were not scared about the situation and that the ice wasn't stopping them from there journey.
Letter four was the most interesting to me. Robert writes to his sister that he and his crew are doing fine but they saw something strange. They saw a man who wasn't the average man... this man was rather large, who was being dragged my a dog sled. The next day his crew found a man who was in the ice. Roberts and his crew are trying to help the guy out of the cold, but all he was asking was what direction were they going and if they've seen what had fled from him. Eventually they took the man on on board and took care of him till he was better. Within that little time Robert had already admitted that he loves this guy as a brother and tells him that he has been longing for companionship. So Robert and this guy have a talk and it so happen to be that this guy was Victor Frankenstein. In the end, Victor starts to tell Robert about his unbelievable secret.
Hey Margie, Yes i So agree that the letters were pretty long and kind of hard to understand in the book. however your blog was easy to understand, Great job my friend :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of i would like to start of with the first letter, Which i think was mainly about how Robert Walter is explaining to his sister about his long journey overseas ahead of him . In my reaction to this i didnt quite comprehend the point of this letter. As i read on to the second letter, Ive learned more and more about what is currently going on in the Novel Frankenstein. But as i was saying in the second letter Robert tells his sister that he has now set out on towards his journey and not only that , but also the fact of him longing for companionship. In other words : He's in need for someone other than his shipmates to join him on his long journey ahead of him . He also describes the people around him , Which are his shipmates. Moving on to Letter 3 which is honestly the least of my interest, it only says that in my point of view is him, Robert Walter checking in with his sister, letting her know that he is okay and on how the things around him have changed. Such things on how the ship had struck ice. In letter 4 Robert and his shipmates see something strange and unfamiliar to their everyday surroundings. Which was a man on a snowsled but it also states that they had lost site of him as they watched go by. The following day , the crew and Robert had met up with a man who was quite strange to me as well , As Robert and his crew had brought him aboard. All that the man could ask was about the guy that they had just seen the day before on the sled, And what direction he had gone. As the story goes on it shows that Robert had grown quite close to this guy, to that certain extent where he had accepted him as a brother . The two learn more and more about eachother such as how the strange man turns out to be Victor Frankenstein and how he himself has a secret to tell to whom he trust, which at the time turns out to be Robert Walter.
ReplyDeleteKeilani Mariano: I think your blog , helped me comprehend more of the letter's 1-4 . So thanks for that . But in your letter 4 i thought that it was a secret. But at the same time i understand that people have different point of views in such things.& Maybe in yours it was a story. But like i said before your blog helped me understand more of the Letters. And also made it easier for me to write my own. Thanks (:
